On February 28, MySummerCamps.com President Evan Heltay, and Chief Information Officer (CIO) Dr. Christian Veillette, spoke with an enthusiastic group of 30 students in the Virtual Retailing course at Toronto’s Ryerson School of Business Management. They expressed how they successfully developed MySummerCamps.com, including how they identified, funded, and carried out the original concept. Evan spoke about starting-up an online business, as well as the challenges of selling to clients without a recognizable brand name. He also shared his expertise in internet development, sales, and marketing. Christian spoke about his role as CIO and the technical challenges in running MySummerCamps.com. He communicated his extensive knowledge of the internet and his expertise with design and implementation. The two spoke for 1 ½ hours and fielded questions from perceptive students. Ryerson Virtual Retailing professor Steve Tissenbaum was delighted with the results. “Your presentation was amazing,” he told Evan and Christian. “It really highlighted how much there is to learn about operating a business on the internet, particularly the technology aspects.” The Ryerson professor invited back Evan and Christian to address other classes in Strategic Management, Entrepreneurial Behaviour, and New Venture Start-Ups. “Your participation is always welcome,” said the thankful professor. Stephen Winbaum is the Communications Coordinator for MySummerCamps.com ---
