Description:
| No lanyards made here! The Oxbow Summer Art Camp offers two unique ‘art-immersion’ programs for youth ages 14-16 who LOVE ART! In a fun, non-competitive environment of high-level instruction, encouragement and support, campers explore creativity and develop their artistic talent. By focusing on a large project of their own design, campers return home with concrete evidence of their growth, a heightened awareness of art and a personally significant piece of work. Often their biggest accomplishment is their realization that they are uniquely creative and capable of making great art.
Serious Art, Serious Fun: (June 27 to July 13, 2008) focuses on creating project-based art. The first week, ‘SASF’ campers explore art fundamentals in several media; drawing, painting, sculpture, photography, and fabrication, to find and develop their particular passion. They then propose a ‘final project’ in the medium(s) of their choice to complete in the remainder of camp.
More Art, More Fun: (July 20 to August 6, 2008) expands upon the offerings in the first session. Students can still work in painting, drawing, digital photography, sculpture. However to this session we add the element of story and telling stories visually. Campers explore how to come up with great story ideas, with compelling plots and memorable characters while learning the fundamentals of the visual arts needed to express their ideas. Then, their stories come to life in the medium of their choice. In addition to the disciplines listed above, students can also work in stop-motion animation, digital film-making or comic books. |
