Description:
| FivePoints offers a meaningful and unique experience for high school students who want to sample college life, unwind from the school year and begin to explore the next step in their education. FivePoints is a college-based residential academic program for rising 8th-12th graders, and as such, it takes advantage of myriad opportunities both on and off campus. Students choose one of 8 academic tracks on which to focus over a two-week session. The program integrates classroom projects, inventive activities, personal coaching, community building and field trips into a fun and powerful learning experience.
Drawing on Union College’s excellence in teaching and commitment to cutting edge instruction, FivePoints is one of the most innovative and fun summer academic programs in the country. With exciting courses such as Forensic Science and Digital Creative Arts, FivePoints is Union College’s answer for bright young minds searching for amazing summer experiences. Experiencing life on a college campus and academic immersion in one chosen field of study are the central pillars of the FivePoints program. Our students live in College Park Hall, our premier newly-renovated residence hall.
Our combination of strong academic programs, fun field trips, a collegiate setting and a young, vibrant staff foster a rich and rewarding environment. At FivePoints, learning naturally unfolds in the context of a community that thrives both inside and outside of the classroom. For example, at FivePoints you might find that a discussion with your Psychology instructor about the theory of Multiple Intelligences continues over dinner. A student filmmaker might direct staff members in her film. Students may spend the evening playing Ultimate Frisbee with their teacher.
Students take a day trip to Manhattan as part of the FivePoints program. We are thrilled to offer our students the opportunity to help select destinations within Manhattan. The hardest part will be which one to choose!
