Ice Skating
Juniors; Ages 9 - 11
What a great way to keep cool this summer while learning the balance and coordination needed for ice skating. Campers of all skill levels will receive instructional coaching and plenty of ice time as well as participate in other ice skating games. Girls can also enjoy swimming, crafts, sports or other camp activities.

Junior Jam
Juniors; Ages 9 - 11
This session is jam packed with a bit of everything for the first time camper! Work towards your Swimming and Sports Sampler Badges, get creative with arts and crafts, participate in the fun of Unit and All Camp activities and meet new friends while roasting s’mores around the campfire. A great introduction for new campers at Camp Casa Mare.

Play by the Bay
Juniors; Ages 9 - 11
Enjoy team sports by the cool bay breeze. Freshen up your soccer, basketball, volleyball and softball skills, or enjoy the splash from a game of water-balloon volleyball. Campers will also choose other activities to complete their busy week as they work on the Court Sports, Field Sports, and Sports Sampler Badges, and the Council Bull’s-eye patch.

Water Worx
Juniors; Ages 9 - 11
Cool off this summer while earning your Water Fun, Water Sports or Swimming Badge. Play a game of water volleyball with your team, get in shape with a Tae Bo or aqua-aerobics workout, and have plenty of fun splashing in the pool and keeping cool. Campers can also participate in archery, crafts, drama or other camp activities.

Cheer & Dance
Juniors; Ages 9 - 11
Calling all Dancin’ Divas. If you love to cheer and shout, practice new dance routines and move to the groove then this is the perfect session for you. Learn new cheers and create your own moves while working on the Dance Badge. Enjoy a special dance workshop hosted by the Green Starlettes Drill Team! Round out the week with some swimming, archery, or crafts, and finish off with a performance at the all-camp program.

Soaps and Scents
Juniors; Ages 9 - 11
Have you ever wanted to create your own scented soaps, candles, lotions and bath oils? Ever thought about making your own make-up? Choose the scents and styles that are right for you and shape different candles, soaps, and more! Take home your favorite creations for yourself, or make gift packs for your friends or family - or both! Plus, choose from other camp activities like archery, sports, swimming or games.

Girlzart
Juniors; Ages 9 - 11
Have you always wanted to design your own jewelry, paint a masterpiece, or create a mosaic? Come try your hand at these and more, as you work with artists to let your creativity flow - then put your work on display in an art show! When you're not unleashing your inner artist, relax with other camp activities such as archery or swimming.

On Target
Juniors; Ages 9 - 11
Spend the week at the archery range working with instructors to perfect your stance, your aim, and your shooting! Of course, when you're not at the range you can cool off with a dip in the pool, work on arts and crafts, or just enjoy the cool bay breeze! Top off the week with an archery tournament ... Robin Hood, eat your heart out! (Campers will earn the Council Bullseye patch and the Junior Olympic Archers Certificate).

Curtain Call
Juniors; Ages 9 - 11
Do you like to dress up, act and be the star of center stage? The Casa Mare theatrical production needs you! Construct sets and prepare costumes, rehearse roles and apply stage make-up. Offstage, enjoy activities such as swimming, hiking, or arts and crafts. Places everybody!…3, 2, 1 action! (Girls will work towards the Theater badge.)

Jewels ‘n’ All
Juniors; Ages 9 - 11
Make and design your own beaded necklaces, friendship bracelets and charms from a wide variety of materials we have waiting for you. Girls will work on the Jeweler Badge and participate in swimming, campfires and other traditional camp activities.

Space Out
Juniors; Ages 9 - 11
Grab your gear, and head for the stars in this fun packed week of adventure! Take a trip to the Challenger Center for a mission to Mars, then head to Space Center Houston and Mission Control! Work with astronomers and astronauts, and find your place in the cosmos! Round out the week with some swimming, crafts and songs!

All About Me
Juniors; Ages 9 - 11
It’s time to relax and pamper yourself at Camp Casa Mare. Massage therapists, make-up artists and yoga instructors work with you to develop relaxation and breathing techniques and to assist you in creating your own personal style. Try some aromatherapy and make candles to take home with you at the end of the week. Juniors can work on the Fun and Fit, Stress Less and Walking for Fitness Badges. Other camp activities are also included throughout the week.

Fencing
Juniors; Ages 9 - 11
Cadettes; Ages 11 +
Spend the week learning this fast-paced, exciting sport! As you challenge your opponents, electronic equipment will keep track of who’s winning the battle. Professional instructors will teach you the finer points of lunging, footwork and blade work. Try out your new skills in a fencing tournament, and round out the week with other activities like swimming and arts and crafts. All protective equipment and fencing gear will be provided for the session.

Please Note: Girls must bring tank tops or thin T-shirts, and loose fitting long pants to wear under the fencing jacket.
Owl Prowl
Juniors; Ages 9 - 11
Are you a night owl? Sleep late every morning, and explore camp during the dark hours while other campers sleep! Enjoy night swims, roast s’mores, tell stories around a cmapfire about the history of Casa Mare, and visit the galley for some late night activities. Since you’re up anyway, how about a dip in the pool to earn the Red Cross Polar Bear patch?

Robotics
Juniors; Ages 9 - 11
Have you ever wanted to build a robot? Discover the science behind moving machines, gears and motors as you build your own real working robot! Round out the week with traditional camp activities such as swimming or archery.

Creative Cooking
Juniors; Ages 9 - 11
Ingredients: Step 1. Take a handful of Junior Girl Scouts. Step 2. Add a bundle of mouth-watering, taste-tempting treats. Step 3. Don’t forget an enthusiastic, experienced instructor to show you how it’s done. Directions: Bring all the steps together and blend for a fun-filled fabulous cooking class! Cooking Time: Allow one week for completion of the Let’s Get Cooking Badge!

Babies and Bottles
Cadettes; Ages 11 +
Learn the valuable skills of taking care of infants and children with this American Red Cross course. Work with your buddies and discuss child-appropriate food, games and safety procedures and practice correct feeding techniques on your dolls and mannequins. Girls will earn the Red Cross Babysitters Certificate and work towards the Child Care Interest Project Award. Swimming, crafts, and sports activities round out the week.

Sea Kayaking
Cadettes & Seniors; Ages 11 +
Explore Galveston Bay this summer in your sleek sea or touring kayak. Learn the fundamentals of paddling, seamanship, safety and navigation while enjoying the freedom and serenity of sea kayaking. When you're not on the water, enjoy other camp activities like archery or swimming.

Skin-diving
Cadettes & Seniors; Ages 11 +
This is a great introduction to the underwater world. Girls will combine classroom, pool and open water instruction to obtain a Skin Diving certification from a national accredited diving organization. Girls will learn the basics of breath-hold diving while correctly using a mask, snorkel, fins and a snorkel vest. They will learn the correct techniques for water entry and exit, mask and snorkel clearing, surface diving and retrieving objects from 12 feet of water! Self and buddy rescue skills are also taught. Girls must pass the exam and open water portion of the course to become certified. All gear is included in this course. Parents/guardians must fill out a separate liability form available at camp check-in. Unfortunately, girls with tubes in their ears or asthma are not eligible for this course.

Sports Fan
Cadettes; Ages 11 +
Can’t get enough of sports? Sports Fans will develop personal skills and team work by participating in a variety of water-based & land games throughout the week. With an emphasis on fun and team spirit, girls can sample basketball, volleyball, aqua-aerobics, soccer and archery. Earn the council’s Bull’s-eye Patch for archery and work towards the Sports For Life Interest Project Award.

SCUBA Diving
Seniors; Ages 14 +
Wow! Learn to SCUBA dive at camp! This course will give girls an internationally recognized Open-Water SCUBA certification upon completion of the required skills. Girls will study diving physics, physiology, medicine, environment, and safety. They will train in the classroom, pool and open water environment. All gear is included in this couse. Parents must fill out a separate liability form available at the camp at check in. Unfortunately, girls with tubes in their ears or asthma are not eligible for this course.

Notes: Girls must have a Red Cross Level 5 swim card. No placement will be made until a copy of the swim card is received.
Wakeboard & Water-Ski
Cadettes & Seniors; Ages 11 +
Learn to wakeboard or water ski this summer with the instructors at M2 Water Ski School. Campers can choose to specialize in either activity or combine the sessions for the best of both worlds. Campers also choose from a range of camp activities when not out on the water.

Get Cookin'
Cadettes; Ages 11 +
Spend the week cooking up some fun! Work with a chef to plan, prepare and eat some wonderful creations. Learn about decorative carving, nutrition, menu planning, baking, and group cooking. Take a field trip to explore the “innards” of a local grocery store - including food shipping and receiveing, cake decorating, and smart shopping - as you earn the Creative Cooking Interest Project Award. When you're not in the kitchen, take time to enjoy other camp activities like a dip in the pool, arts and crafts, sports, or archery!

Chill Out
Cadettes; Ages 11 +
No school means lazy days of hanging out with friends, sleeping in and staying up for those late night chats and snacks. Enjoy late night swims, telling stories and chillin' on the porch swings. Work on the Red Cross Polar Bear Patch and the Coach Potato Interest Project Award at this laid back session!

DIY Designs
Cadettes; Ages 11 - 14
Want a clever and unique way to update your look? Why not DIY - Do It Yourself? Learn how to customize clothing, accessories, jewelry, and even your room - without breaking your bank! And of course, you still get to join in the other camp activities like swimming, canoeing, hiking, and campfires.

Be a Star!
Cadettes; Ages 11 +
Are you a diva? Do you dream of standing ovations after you sing? Then come work with voice coaches and choreographers to perfect your act - then, head into the recording studio to create a CD! Finish out the week with a performance on stage … then listen to the applause!

Lifeguard Training
Seniors; Ages 15 +
Do you have what it takes to become a lifeguard? If so, you could be on the path to a fabulous job! Trained Red Cross lifeguards are always needed, especially during the summer months. This session focuses on the job of the lifeguard in a swimming pool environment. The purpose of the course is to provide lifeguard candidates with the skills and knowledge necessary to keep the patrons of aquatic facilities safe in and around the water. Girls will learn victim recognition, surveillance, equipment based rescues, spinal injury management, first aid skills, CPR, AED use, alternate airway management, the use of a pocket mask, and how to prevent diease transmisison.

Notes: Girls must be at least 15 years old by 6/8/06. Enrollment in this session does not guarantee that girls will pass the lifeguarding course. In order to pass, girls must score at least an 80% on a written exam, and pass all the skills tests. Girls in this class must be able to swim 550 yards continuously using the front crawl and breast stroke, surface dive to a depth of 10 feet, retrieve a 10 lb object, return to the surface, and swim 20 yards back to the starting point with the object. When returning to the starting point girls must hold the 10 lb object with both hands and keep their faces above the water.
Sailing Sessions for Cadettes and Seniors:
Taste of Sailing
Cadettes; Ages 11 +
Are you just testing the waters when it comes to sailing? This session will introduce you to many aspects of sailing including knot tying, semaphore and nautical terms. Top off the week as you set sail on a sunfish with an experienced skipper! When you're not on the bay, enjoy other traditional camp activities like swimming, arts and crafts or archery.

Notes: Please send copies of the Level IV swim card with registration. No placement will occur until a copy of the certification is received. Safe boating tests will be administered on site. Participants must be able to pass the safe boating test to continue in the session.
Basic Sailing (RCBS)
Cadettes & Seniors; Ages 11 +
(2 week session) Designed for girls who want to learn to sail, this comprehensive session teaches girls how to rig a sailboat, forecast weather and be safe on the water. This session is designed on requirements for the Red Cross Basic Sailing or Seaman rating. Note: To earn the Red Cross Basic Sailing certification, girls must successfully complete both the written exam and water requirements. More then one session may be necessary for girls to pass the course.

Notes: Girls must submit a copy of their Red Cross Level IV Swim card and Safe Boating Test card. No placement will occur until a copy of these certifications is received.
Sunfish Mate
Cadettes & Seniors; Ages 11 +
(2 week session) Are you ready for more sailing? Master sailing solo, and work towards your Sunfish Mate and Sailing Fundamentals ratings. When you're not on the water, take some time to enjoy other traditional camp activities. To complete the sailing certifications, girls must earn the required service hours. Certifications will be held with the sailing program until service hours are completed.

Notes: Girls must have Red Cross Basic Sailing or Small Craft Safety Sailing, or GSSJC Seaman rating. Please submit copies of Red Cross Level IV swim card, Safe Boating Test card, and photocopies of sailing certifications with your registration. No placement will occur until a copies of the certifications are received.
Seafarers
Cadettes & Seniors; Ages 11 - 17
(2 week session) Seafarers, sail to your heart's content at Camp Casa Mare! Sail to Hot Dog Island, then take a break from camp and head to Galveston to visit Moody Gardens and Schlitterbahn before returning to camp to continue the tradition of the Seafarers banner!

Notes: Girls must have a minimum of a Sunfish Mate or Big Boat Crew rating. A photocopy of your rating must be sent with registration. No placement will occur until a copy of the rating is received.
