Camp Northwoods, located near Iron River, Wis., approximately one hour east of Duluth, Minn. and four hours northeast of St. Paul/Minneapolis, offers a beautiful camp setting to girls aged 8-18 years to learn and play together. Northwoods encompasses 420 acres with a diverse forest, includes a lake and borders the Chequamegon National Forest. Last summer, 99% of our campers said they would recommend Northwoods to their friends! Come to camp and find out why!
Share the land with deer, raccoons, fish, birds, and other critters, as you stay in living units which include platform tents, a unit shelter, and a latrine. Each platform tent is large enough to walk around in, and has four cots with foam mattresses and mosquito netting. Each unit has running water and there are shower houses with hot water and flushing toilets located in central parts of the camp. Some programs stay in our cabin unit. Each spacious cabin has 8 bunks, a ceiling fan and electricity. Other camp buildings include the beautiful Thunderbird dining hall, horse barn, and Voyageur Lodge.
Camp Northwoods is proud to offer a fun, well-rounded Girl Scout camp experience. All campers enjoy swimming in the lake, canoeing and kayaking, learning outdoor skills (such as fire-building and outdoor cooking), creative arts, nature exploration, group games, and traditional camp activities like campfires and singing. Challenge yourself by trying one of our specialty programs such as horseback riding, climbing, and wilderness trips. Please keep in mind, ALL girls participate in the general camp program, and those enrolled in the specialty camp sessions will spend extra time in their specialty program area.
Grants are available for girls.
